Derek Armstrong, deputy director


Derek Armstrong serves as the Deputy Director of The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). In his role, Mr. Armstrong helps promotes a diversified economy by attracting new business and assisting business expansion, encouraging entrepreneurial enterprise, and working with industry partners to develop a high-skilled workforce.

 

Mr. Armstrong also served as an Assemblyman in the Nevada Legislature. He was the chairman of the Assembly committee on Taxation and chaired the Assembly committee of the whole for one regular session and two special sessions. While serving in the Nevada legislature Mr. Armstrong helped pass Economic Development legislation including abatement programs related to Data Centers and the Aviation industry.

 

Previously, Mr. Armstrong founded and practiced at the Arlint & Armstrong law firm, providing service to individuals and businesses in the areas of Tax, Trust and Estate and Contract Negotiations.

 

Mr. Armstrong graduated from the William S. Boyd School of Law with a Juris Doctor in Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He also served five years in the United States Marines Corps achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6), receiving numerous medals and decorations.
